When the gather is close to the proper shape, it is inserted into the mold.
While an assistant holds the mold closed,
the gaffer blows the bubble into the mold,
all the while turning the pipe to maintain an even shape.
A foot tap on the top of the mold is the recognised signal that the gaffer feels that the shape is ready.
